Twentieth Century Seaside Architecture by Kathryn Ferry

A beautifully illustrated hardback book by Kathryn Ferry, showing the way that buildings associated with seaside  resorts has changed over the years.

It covers interwar classical, deco and modern styles as well as ideas influenced by festivals and the development of British “Costas”, with examples from vintage postcards showing how trends have moved over the years.  The many nostalgic photographs show seaside buildings that have long gone as well as those that have endured.  It ends with consideration of the future of the seaside.
