A Long Story (Southend Pier – the Journey) D.V.D (2018) (50 minutes)

A 50  minute video showing the history of Southend Pier, the world’s longest pier, from the development of Southend as a tourist resort and covering the ups and downs of its 200 year life.  With old photographs and vintage film clips it covers the building of the original pier, its replacement and extension eventually to a mile and a third, the coming of horse-drawn trams and their replacement by electric trains and the several collisions, fires and financial difficulties that it survived.
