Britain’s Coastal Road Bridges by Mark Chatterton

A celebration of the huge variety of bridges around the coast of Britain.  The author takes us on a circular tour of the coast from the Dartford bridge, then anticlockwise and back to the Thames at the Canvey Island bridge.  100 road bridges are illustrated and described, showing the great variety of types and designs that can be found.  Everything from suspension bridges to stone, bascule, transporter, barrage, floating, iron and wood bridges are included.  Multiple images show how ideas have changed from ancient stone bridges, such as the one in Cardigan, to a modern asymmetric cable-stayed bridge at Connah’s Quay in North Wales.
