Once one of Weston-super-Mare’s favourite tourist attractions, the Seaquarium at Weston-super-Mare closed in March 2019 due to continuing finanacial problems.

For almost two years, it stood empty. Then in February 2021, it was announced that the owners of Weston’s Grand Pier, the Michaels family company, AGM Holdings, had signed a deal with North Somerset Council to take over the seafront tourist attraction and intended to invest around £1.5 million into refurbishing it.

Work started in early February on the mammoth 5 week job of removing the 45 aquarium tanks of widely varying sizes upto 20 metres in width, some so big they had to be cut up to get them out.

June 2021 – Weston’s ‘third pier’ opens!
After the Seaquarium closed two years ago it stood empty and unloved on the sands – until now. The building, which sits on stilts on the seafront site, saw an incredible transformation into ‘all day dining’ venue the Revo Kitchen – thanks to the town’s Michael family. Kerry Michael, who also owns the town’s Grand Pier, signed a deal with North Somerset Council to take over the seafront tourist attraction last year and pumped nearly £1.7 million into its transformation.

November 2022 – Weston’s piers benefit from SEE MONSTER success
Owner of Revo Kitchen Alex Michael said the SEE MONSTER had been good for business. Alex, who opened Revo in June 2021, said: “We have definitely noticed an increase in trade since SEE MONSTER opened”. Grand Pier co-owner Michelle Michael said: “The SEE MONSTER has brought an added dimension to the seafront. People have not only been visiting in the day but also in the evenings to see it lit up”.
