Clacton Pier is undertaking £250,000 refurbishment work
The scheme, which started at the beginning of the holiday season, includes building a new £150,000 accommodation for employees at the back of the Log Flume. This will free up two buildings on the landmark structure which, in the long term, will eventually be again used for visitors. These include the former RNLI boathouse on the east side of the pier and the Jolly Roger, the structure’s first proper building which dates back to 1893.

Celebrating Cleethorpes Pier’s 150th anniversary!
This year marks the 150-year anniversary since the construction of the Cleethorpes Pier began. Cleethorpes Pier was built between 1872 and 1875 and initially measured 1,200ft in length, even measuring across the road leading to a slope from the Pier Gardens to Sea Road. In its first five weeks of operation, 37,000 people paid 1d admission to walk along the smart new deck.

Orb Mini Golf opened on Saturday, July 30, after owner Ed Saunders decided to set up the attraction because of his daughter. As it is a neon course, Mr Saunders said he is also planning to host sensory sessions in the venue. The course currently has glow-in-the-dark artwork and pyramids.

John Ayers, the director of the company, stated: “We have an annual survey carried out by a Structural Engineering company. There survey reports are submitted to the council regularly.
