Last year, Eugenius Birch’s masterpiece celebrated 150 years since its grand opening in 1872. Still operating as SeaLife Brighton it is the oldest aquarium in the world. As part of Brighton Fringe Festival Jackie Marsh-Hobbs put together a tour of the building to which she brought her own memories as a Brightonian and a great deal of research based on old photographs, pictures and plans. In this talk she’ll share her inside knowledge of the West Pier designer’s other great Brighton landmark.

Jackie Marsh-Hobbs is a lecturer and tour guide. She has worked at the Royal Pavilion and Brighton Museum since 2000, also running adult education courses on local architecture and house history. Her other specialised tours have included Brighton Station, Palmeira Mansions, The Old Ship Hotel, Brighton’s Palace Pier, Eastbourne Pier and the ‘Behind closed doors’ tour at the Royal Pavilion.

This lecture is being presented online and in person at the West Pier Centre, Brighton. For further information and to book please click here.
