Over £20 million to be invested in Southend Pier
A further £5.3million will be spent on maintaining and refurbishing the pier which Mr Woodley said was an ongoing investment that needs to be committed to ensure the pier’s long-term survival. National Piers Society attend the launch of Blackpool’s new ‘Showtown’ museum
Details of the first museum to tell the story of Blackpool and the seaside resort’s role in the British entertainment scene have been revealed. The £13m Showtown will be located on the Golden Mile.
It will be based within the Sands Venue Resort Hotel, which is set to be the town’s first five-star hotel.

The Levenmouth Whale Project is now a registered company, meaning it can apply for funding, receive donations and find sponsors. Eugene Clarke, chair of the company, said that the next stage is securing the funding needed to carry out a feasibility study.

The British restaurant Gatehouse 1833 released a statement saying it was “closed until further notice.” Situated above the award winning Kuti’s Brasserie on the cities Royal Pier, the restaurant posted the announcement on Facebook and on its website.

Hastings Pier Community Archive is now live
When Hastings Pier was sold into private ownership in June 2018, the digital pier archive was given to Hastings Museum and Art Gallery (HMAG). Since 2019 the volunteers of Hastings Pier Community Archive have worked in conjunction with HMAG to continue to maintain this important cultural asset for the local community, and for those around the world with an interest in seaside heritage and the on-going history of Hastings Pier.
