Blackpool North Pier open day takes place this Saturday!
This year’s free North Pier Open Day, organised by Blackpool Council and the Blackpool Pier Company, will take place from 11am on Saturday. The day will include music and entertainment, live Punch and Judy shows and a traditional barrel organ. Some rides will be completely free for children (who must be accompanied by an adult) and there will be a free coconut shy with seaside prizes along with lots of seaside craft activities.

New boilers ordered for PS Waverley as fundraising continues
A £2.3 million appeal was begun and initial donations have meant that the boilers could be ordered. If fitted successfully they could help the boat, which made her maiden voyage in 1947, sail for another 20 years.

The Brighton and Rottingdean Seashore Electric Railway was part tram, part boat and part seaside pier, chugging through the waves to take locals between the two towns. It was built on cables 24ft above the sea, allowing it to pass through 15ft of water at high tide if necessary.
